How to upgrade a Telegram gift

Upgrading turns a limited Telegram gift into a unique collectible with a number and three random traits: model, backdrop and symbol. Only upgraded gifts can be resold on the market.

Step by step

1. Open your profile and go to Gifts. 2. Tap the gift you want to upgrade. 3. Tap Upgrade. The app shows the price in Stars before you confirm. 4. Confirm. The gift gets its number, model, backdrop and symbol.

If the sender already paid for the upgrade, it is free for you. If you don't see an Upgrade button, that gift cannot be upgraded, or it was already converted to Stars.

What changes after the upgrade

• The gift becomes unique and can be transferred, sold inside Telegram, or exported to the TON blockchain as an NFT. • You usually can no longer convert it to Stars. The app tells you before you confirm. • The traits are random. You cannot choose the model.

Is the upgrade worth it?

Compare the total cost (the Stars you paid for the gift plus the upgrade fee) with the collection's floor price. If the floor is well above your cost, even an ordinary model can usually be sold for more than you paid. If the floor is close to or below your cost, upgrading is a bet on getting a popular model. Check the live floor of the collection on the price list first.

After upgrading, see how to tell if your gift is rare and how to sell it.
